Q: Is the Granger Rocket Football League full-contact football?
A: Yes and all players are required to wear the full compliment of protective gear.

Q: Who can sign-up for playing in the league?
A: Any player currently living in the Penn-Harris-Madison school district (you do not have to attend a PHM school, but you must live in the district) who is in the 4th, 5th or 6th grade.  The player must be at least 9 years old before August 1st and may not turn 13 before November 1.

Q: Where and when are the games played?
A: All games during the regular season are played on Saturday mornings at various PHM schools around the community.  A complete schedule with locations will be posted on this website prior to the start of the season and the player will receive a printed copy of the schedule from his coach.

Q: How often do the teams practice?
A:
Typically, most teams will practice five nights per week (and maybe one day on the weekend) until school begins.  Once school starts, most teams practice a maximum of three days per week.  We want to emphasize the importance of grades and schoolwork.  Parents may choose to hold their player out of a practice if they have a large amount of homework to complete or if they feel the players grades are suffering due to a lack of time spent on school.  In this case, a courtesy call to your player's head coach is recommended.

Q: How are the players picked for teams?
A: There is a blind draft in which all teams take turns selecting players from each grade level.  Under no circumstances are players allowed to request a team or to be traded from one team to another.  Also, once a player has been chosen for a specific team, they remain on that team for the entire duration of their eligibility.

Q: How will I know what team my player is on?
A: Once the draft has been completed, the coaches will call all of the new players on their roster and let them know.

Q: How long does the season run?
A:
Practices start on August 1st and the season runs through October.

Q: Does the league have officials for the games?
A:
Yes, at least two officials will be at every game and these officials are all state licensed.

Q: What does the league do to ensure safe play?
A:
Football is a contact sport and the possibility for injury always exists. However, all coaches teach the proper skills to reduce the possibility of getting injured as a result of incorrect technique.  Also, there are weight limits for each position to limit the potential for having unevenly matched players from playing directly against each other.

Q: What kind of playing time will my player expect to see?
A:
Just like in real life, the best players will receive the most playing time.  However, coaches make every effort to get every player involved in the game in some manner.  For the younger and/or inexperienced players, there are "JV" games played on Sunday afternoons throughout the season.  These games offer players the opportunity to go up against other players of similar skill levels and gain valuable experience that may lead to more playing time in the "Varsity" games on Saturday mornings.

Q: What do I do if my player wants to quit and can I receive a refund?
A:
All players can quit for a full refund if they do so before August 1st.  After August 1st, a player can quit but no refund will be allowed unless extenuating circumstances exist.
